Uninstall Preloaded Windows 8 Apps in Bulk With This Program

Removing bloatware from a new PC is a rite of passage for most Windows users whenever they get a new machine. And for years, desktop users have turned to third-party programs such as PC Decrapifier to automate bloatware removal. But removing all those pre-installed “Metro” apps in Windows 8 hasn’t been so easy, and boy, does Microsoft pre-install a lot of them. (Around 20 in the Windows 8.1 Update, if you’re counting.) For the most part, the only option was to go through each modern app one-by-one, right-clicking the ones you didn’t want, and then selecting “uninstall”. Not too difficult, but very manual. A new, free program aims to change all that. Called Windows 8 App Remover, this desktop program automates the process of…

Accompli: A Perfect iOS Email App But We Wish it Wasn’t Free

I’ve always been bad at email and despite great solutions like Mailbox existing, I’ve never found the perfect iOS email client. In this case, this is a great way to bookmark a few things maybe for some evening or weekend reading. I guarantee you’ll find at least a few links in here that you’ll want to come back to. Enjoy! A great point-and-click little app to get you up to speed with all the different parts of CSS syntax and what the proper name for them is. A very simple …

Flickr Shows it Could Still Be the Best Photo-Sharing Platform

While I was studying photography in college, Flickr was the best place to store, organize and share photos. Almost everyone with a DSLR used it, poring over photosets and meticulously crafted albums. As smartphones grew in popularity, casual and professional photographers alike adopted mobile-centric apps such as Instagram. Flickr was slow to recognize this trend, however, and its relevancy slowly faded as the volume of photos captured, edited and shared from mobile devices grew. I’ve always wanted a superlative service that offers the best of both. A place where I can store and share all of my favorite photos, regardless of whether I’ve shot them on a smartphone, compact system camera or full-frame DSLR. Instagram’s success stems from its simplicity, but the …
